Mark C. Marino, MA PT, CFMT

Mark is founder and owner of North Island Physical Therapy, PC. Mark graduated from Muhlenberg College with a liberal arts degree and received his Masters of Physical Therapy from Touro College.

Mark has focused his career specializing in orthopedic manual physical therapy. He has received an advanced certification in manual therapy - the CFMT (Certified Functional Manual Therapist) from the nationally recognized Institute of Physical Art. He continues to progress his extensive training in manual therapy.

In Addition to treating all orthopedic conditions, Mark is currently working with elite athletes including nationally and internationally ranked runners, tri-athletes, gymnasts, and figure skaters. Mark is currently a Primary Instructor for The Institute of Physical Art, a nationally recognized institute for physical therapy continuing education. He is an adjunct clinical instructor for the Columbia University Physical Therapy Doctoral Program. Mark is currently lecturing locally on Long Island for various topics such as; Scoliosis, Physical therapy Treatment of athletes, Body Mechanics and Postural Awareness training, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, etc.

His education, training and interests have fueled a desire to create a Physical Therapy clinic which focuses on the patient as a whole and, through an individualized treatment approach, maximizes his/her return to normal function.

 
Donna Miller, DPT, CSCS
Donna graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Masters of Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class and received the award for General Excellence in Physical Therapy and the Graduate Honor Award. Her doctoral work has been presented at the National Physical Therapy Conference and was published in the Journal of the American PT Association in the spring of 2006. As a multi-specialty therapist, she has taken extensive course work focusing on pediatrics and orthopedics. She is recognized by the APTA as a Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and is presently taking classes to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist. In 2007, Donna received her Advanced Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.


Donna believes in communication at all levels regarding patient care, and utilizes this ideology in her daily practice. Specializing in pediatric and orthopedic physical therapy, Donna brings a unique blend of manual and biomechanical emphasis to her patient care. She has treated a wide variety of general orthopedic and sports related problems, and has worked with patient populations including pediatrics, athletes and geriatrics. Donna enjoys lecturing for colleges, elementary schools and various organizations on Body Mechanics, Ergonomics, Pediatric Summer Safety, Scoliosis, and the benefit of physical therapy in the treatment of Autism.

trevor Christine Buraczewski, DPT

Christine received both her Master's and Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. She has an extensive background in hospital based rehabilitation, starting her career in adult orthopedics including hip and knee replacements and amputee training. She later expanded her career to specialize in treating neurological disorders such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and others in the adult and pediatric populations. Christine is LSVT - BIG certified, a whole body amplitude-based training technique for individuals with Parkinson disease. She also works regularly with infants in the NICU, and after discharge, performing infant massage and promoting normal neurological development.

Christine has been an active part of developing and presenting educational materials and courses for our local community, specifically for those prone to falls and injury who have osteoporosis. She is soon to be published on her work with osteoporetic patients who sustain hip fracture either before or during their rehabilitation. Christine is also recognized by the APTA as a Credential Clinical Instructor as well as an instructor in ergonomics and transfer training for other health professionals such as nurses, as part of their re credentialing procedure.

Christine takes a functional, total body approach to her treatment of patients in the out patient orthopedic setting, and is working toward her Certification in Manual Therapy.

Christine completed her undergraduate work at Touro College in Bayshore, NY prior to earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Touro. She also holds an associate of science as a fitness specialist. Christine is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has significant experience working in both orthopedic and Women’s health settings. Her concentration at this time is on manual physical therapy techniques, post-surgical rehabilitation, and balance improvement for seniors. In 2005, Christine earned a certification from the APTA in cervical spine (neck) disorders.


Christine has practiced in two states and been involved in surgery observation and post-surgical rehabilitation for a number of conditions including total knee replacement and rotator cuff repair. She has been active in the community, volunteering her time as a member of the medical team for the New York City marathon as well as numerous health fairs and charity events. In 2004, Christine presented research at the Touro College Research Symposium on balance in elderly females.
